The other project I'm thinking about is this Balmain, a Vogue Paris Original, #2142, c. 1968/9:
I have a couple of yards of a very nice dark chocolate Austrian wool double knit downstairs and another yard in a cool red, which look beautiful together. I'm considering a two-tone, more mod version of this dress, to which end I played around a bit in Photoshop, just to get a sense of what that might look like (click for the larger version; lots more detail that way):
I gave her black shoes and a green handbag too, because, well, my bag is lime green & I do usually wear black shoes. Not those shoes (as usual, I was thinking boots), and not that bag, but still.
Although there are other possibilities, I don't think the red will extend to much more than the shoulder or a shoulder/sleeve combo, possibly both sleeves.
Something to think about, anyway. I doubt I'll have time to execute it before I really have to get completely packed up, but I'd like to get it started at least conceptually--hopefully trace the pattern, perhaps even make a muslin, so it's ready to go when I am.
I haven't even looked at the latest BWOF, if you can believe it. Too much else going on, & I'm desperate to get ahead on next Fall's clothes. It's always so hot and humid in the summer that I never care much about what I'm wearing anyway; I just pray for cold weather.
